Meet the 2023-2024 Canadian Sailing Youth Squad

The 2023-2024 Canadian Sailing Youth Squad (CSYS) has announced the selection of 25 athletes who excelled during the 2023 CSYS Trials Camp in January.

To qualify for an invitation to the CSYS Trials Camp, sailors must first attend a regional or national Talent ID camp and receive a nomination from the Sail Canada High Performance Director, based on their performance at the Talent ID camp.

Athletes who make it to the CSYS are provided with unique developmental opportunities, including priority selection for the Identified Athlete Program (IAP). These enhanced development opportunities may encompass:

  • Access to exclusive training sessions with the Canadian Sailing Development Squad.
  • Opportunities for national coaching support during specific regattas.
  • Yearly consultations for training plan development with Sail Canada technical staff.
  • Collaborative work with Sail Canada’s technical staff to enhance their racing skills within their local and regional training environments.

These initiatives are designed to help the selected athletes reach their full potential and excel in the sport of sailing.
