Rio Tinto is looking to fill a Marine Operations Specialist position in Montreal.  The principle function of this role is to provide operational support to Global Manager by delivering best practice operational performance and administration of owned and chartered vessel voyages, to meet customer and trade requirements and to achieve RT Marine plans and performance targets.

Qualifications:

Passed or studying towards completion of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers qualification or similar shipping qualification - preferred

University Education: Logistics or Commerce

Sea going certification / experience preferred

Sea going experience preferred : general shipping knowledge and experience with a demonstrable understanding of shipping documentation

The duties include: Maintain proper levels of equipment throughout Canada; Create and update Logistics reference number for empty repositioning; Advise truckers of Logistics reference number along with any other details needed; Advise Rail of Logistics reference number along with any other details needed; Download container numbers into SAP; Send T/Os to Rail; Advise respective parties on empty return locations; Create and modify work procedures related to Equipment Control; Create and update inventory reports.

Must have minimum 2 years relevant experience with ocean freight company; be computer literate and fully bilingual.
