CMA CGM’s Black Pearl service extended to Latin America

August 18, 2010

The CMA CGM Group has introduced two new calls in Cartagena, Colombia, and Puerto Cabello, Venezuela, on its Black Pearl service linking North America to Kingston, Jamaica. On a weekly basis, these new calls provide new opportunities to the Colombian and Venezuelan markets for CMA CGM’s U.S. East Coast and Canadian customers. They also provide the trade’s fastest transit times between the East Coast of North America and Colombia/Venezuela, the carrier said. New York to Puerto Cabello takes 14 days, and Halifax to Cartagena, eight days.

In response to growing demand on this trade, CMA CGM will provide a homogeneous fleet of four 1,300-TEU (20-foot equivalent unit) vessels.

Nicole Chamard, line manager, Caribbean and Latin America, said, “With these additional calls to Cartagena and Puerto Cabello, CMA CGM will provide its U.S. East Coast and Canadian customers with efficient transport solutions and the most competitive transit times to support the development of their activities in the growing markets of Colombia and Venezuela.”

The Black Pearl’s new rotation is New York, Halifax, Kingston (southbound), Cartagena, Puerto Cabello, Kingston (northbound), New York.
