March 30, 2010

Emirates airline captured a Gold Award at the first Air Cargo Excellence Awards held recently in Vancouver.

Winners were determined based on a survey of freight forwarders, who rated airlines on customer service, performance value and information technology.

Air Cargo World commissioned the survey, which measured carriers and airports on specific criteria and ranked them to identify industry performance levels. Other carrier winners included Southwest Airlines, FedEx Express, Virgin Atlantic and Nippon Cargo Airlines.

“I am delighted and very honoured that Emirates was considered for such an exquisite award,” said Ram Menen, divisional senior vice-president, cargo.

“The Air Cargo Excellence Awards ceremony gave us a great opportunity to honour the airlines and airports that strive to meet excellence and to exceed their past performances,” said Steve Prince, publisher of Air Cargo World. “The success of this inaugural event proves the importance and credibility of the Air Cargo Excellence Survey, which has become an important benchmark of airline and airport performance.”

Emirates SkyCargo is a division of Emirates airline. It uses cargo hold capacity in Emirates’ passenger aircraft and it has eight freighters – one Boeing 777F, four Boeing 747-400Fs and three 747-400ERFs.
