Seaway announces senior management appointments

Aubry-Morin named VP sustainability,
Kwok heads up Niagara region

The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation has named Jean Aubry-Morin vice-president of corporate sustainability and Stephen Kwok director of the Niagara Region.

The appointments took effect in October.

Mr. Aubry-Morin oversees the Seaway’s operations and technical services, and will advance the corporation’s sustainability efforts.

He joined the SLSMC as corporate sustainability and environmental officer in May 2008. Shortly thereafter, he was appointed acting vice-president of the Niagara region.

Prior to joining the Seaway, Mr. Aubry-Morin served as executive director of operations for a firm within the industrial energy sector for four years.

His experience encompasses senior posts in North America, Europe and Asia, including managing director of transportation and distribution of industrial containerized goods for a U.K. entity.

With a background in business administration, his academic credentials include a bachelor of science in physics.

As head of the Niagara region, Mr. Kwok is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Welland Canal. Prior to October, he served as the corporation’s director of operations and technical services.

Since joining the Seaway in 1989, Mr. Kwok has held various engineering and management positions. He has played a key role in advancing the modernization of Seaway assets, and ensuring the system’s safety and reliability.

Mr. Kwok has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Hong Kong and an MBA from Athabasca University in Alberta.

He became a U.K. chartered engineer and a member of the Institute of Civil Engineers in 1981. He received his professional engineer designation in Ontario in 1989.

Before joining the Seaway, Mr. Kwok worked with a number of engineering consulting firms in Hong Kong and Canada.
